How long have you been with CrossFit Torrent and what made you decide to start? 

I started my CrossFit journey (and at Torrent) in October 2021!

When did you realize that CrossFit is right for you? 

I’ve been an avid CrossFit fan (from afar) for years- obsessed with the movements, the games, everything about it. I never thought I could do it until one day I thought to myself “why not now?”. I realized the only person holding me back from trying CrossFit was ME.

What were your thoughts after your first WOD?

“Well.. I’m alive.. and I guess that wasn’t so bad” 

What is your favorite or least favorite WOD/movement?

My favorite movements are anything squat- front, back, overhead. My least favorite movement is deadlifts – the long torso/short legs helps with squats but not so much keeping a neutral spine for off the floor movements (yes I will continue to blame my long spine and will take the excuse with me to the grave ha!).

What is the one thing you have done at CFT that you never thought you would do?

Literally…. Everything! Rope climbs would be at the top of the list. I’ve always been afraid of heights but I conquered my first full rope climb this past February!

What motivates you during a tough workout?

I’m just out there trying to be better than I was yesterday. It’s me vs me, so I find it motivating to give it my all to help me become a better/stronger version of myself. I owe it to myself and to my kids to be the best me.

What’s your favorite thing about CrossFit?

I’ve made so many friends and feel like I am part of a community. It’s not just throwing around barbells and being covered in chalk.. it’s about the friendly smiles and conversations you get to share with people who also are trying to be the best version of themselves! It’s also something I do that doesn’t involve being a mom or running a business, it’s my “escape” in a way.

What are your short term and long term goals?

I’m an enneagram 3 so when it comes to goals… I have a lot. My short term goal(s) are to get over my fear of wall walks and work on double unders (I just got my first the other day which has given me motivation to keep at it)! My long term goal would be being able to do strict pull-ups. I’m a ways out but I’ll get there *someday*!

How have you seen yourself change- mentally and physically since joining Torrent?

Absolutely. Since starting at Torrent I’ve lost 30 pounds. Not only am I stronger physically, but mentally too.

What impact has CFT had on you in and out of the gym?

I feel more confident both in and out of the gym! A lot of people in my life have noticed how much more confidence I have these days. It’s amazing how just choosing to go to a free trial class last October turned into something I’m so passionate about. I love CrossFit and couldn’t imagine not being at Torrent.

Do you have any advice for people just getting started at CFT? 

I would have so much advice but to keep it short: you are stronger than you think you are. Also, you belong here.

I don’t really watch TV but if I had to choose, my favorite movie(s) would probably be the Harry Potter series!
