From: New Buffalo, Mi
How long have you been with CrossFit Torrent and what made you decide to start?
I have been with crossfit torrent for a whole year now. I started up because I saw a friend, who is a member, and wanted to give it a try and see if it was something I enjoyed.
When did you realize that CrossFit is right for you?
I think after my first few weeks of going to the gym, working out consistently, and meeting everyone. It was a pretty quick realization.
What were your thoughts after your first WOD?
I don’t remember much about it, but I definitely recall having no idea what I was doing and feeling exhausted. I also recall everyone after being supportive and nice, which really stuck with me and was a big part of me coming back.
What is your favorite or least favorite WOD/movement?
My favorite movement by far is power cleans. It makes me feel powerful and it’s just a ton of fun to do. Least favorite is power snatch.
What is the one thing you have done at CFT that you never thought you would do?
Murph. When I heard about Murph I never thought it would be something I would attempt, even half of it, and it’s still kinda crazy to me that I was able to do even that much.
What motivates you during a tough workout?
The music… Other than the music, just wanting to push myself to do better than I did the day before and see what I can do.
What’s your favorite thing about CrossFit?
Everyone being so supportive to one another and being there to go through the workout together.
What are your short term and long term goals?
Short term and long are really the same for me, I am looking to get stronger and lift heavier.
How have you seen yourself change- mentally and physically since joining Torrent?
Ya physically I have seen myself having more muscles that I didn’t have before and mentally it has led to me having a more positive perspective on myself. I feel more comfortable in my skin and it’s nice to see that reflected in my physical appearance.
What impact has CFT had on you in and out of the gym?
In the gym it has helped me lift heavier. Outside of the gym it just made moving easier, I am on my feet a lot at work, and while I may not be sprinting around at work, I don’t nearly notice some of the fatigue at the end of the day I used to.
Do you have any advice for people just getting started at CFT?
Just stick with it, it’s hard at first, and you will want to give up, but week by week things will get easier and more fun.
Favorite Cheat Meal: Pizza, always pizza.
Favorite TV show/ Movie: The matrix
Favorite CrossFit Athlete: I can’t say I keep up with any CrossFit Athletes.
